What is Blaze Youth?
Blaze Youth is St. Joseph’s High School Youth Group Program! We meet most Sunday evenings during the school year from 6:30-8:30pm in Kuykendall Hall. Sometimes we run a little long if the spirit is moving, so thank you for being patient with us. We gather, share a meal together, play a Game, and then talk about God and our awesome Catholic Faith!
How do I register?
Each teen needs to be registered and the registration fee paid to either Kyle or I or the parish office. Fees are outlined on the back of the registration form and help cover curriculum, supplies, materials, snacks, and drinks. Click here for registration form >>
How do I stay informed?
To keep in the know of what Blaze Youth is up to and for last minute changes and gatherings, PLEASE TEXT @blazeyouth TO 81010. If your teen has a phone, please have them do the same.
What About Confirmation?
St. Joseph’s Confirmation is a one year program offered for sophomores. It is taught by a generous group of parish catechists Sunday afternoons using Ascension Press’ “Chosen” program. Please contact Kyle or Ruth to sign your sophomore up. Student workbooks are $20 and there are also Parent and Sponsor guides available for an addition charge.

How Can I Help?
Meals - Kids like to eat. Sharing a meal, “breaking bread” together, is a great way to bond, so if you are able and willing, please consider donating towards our meal fund OR providing a meal for one of our Blaze nights. The simpler the better! They love pasta, pizza, tacos, subs, etc! With our group over 80 some nights, pairing up to supply meals is a good idea! Coffee Hour and Soup Night - Blaze will be hosting our parish’s Sunday morning coffee hour on March 20th. So please mark your calendars. We will need each family to contribute a dozen or more treats and we will need the kids to come and help with set up and clean up, along with shining their bright little faces. During Lent, we will help with a Monday Chili Night. We will need pots of chili along teens to help serve and clean. Stay tuned on the date! Our parish needs to see these kids as an active part of our community. They play an essential role in the life of our parish! Please encourage your kids to help out as much as possible!
Lead! Parenting is hard! Life is overwhelming and crazy! But whether we like it or not, we are the most influential people in our children’s lives; “evidence clearly shows that the single most important social influence on the religious and spiritual lives of adolescents is their parents.” Man, that’s a lot of pressure! But that’s why we are here. That’s why high school youth group and Confirmation is so important. Let’s work together to be the best examples we can be and teach these kids what it means to be a joyful Catholic, making God, Mass, the sacraments and our parish community a priority.
What Events Should I Know About?
Yakima Diocese Youth Convention - November 3-5rd - $60 a youth – This is a Catholic charged weekend spent with kids from all over the diocese. Scholarships are available and more information will follow! Chaperones and drivers are needed.
Steubenville Northwest Youth Conference – July 27-30th – This is a crazy fun couple of days taking a bus to beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene, making a stop at LaserQuest, crashing in the Gonzaga dorms and joining hundreds of other teens in celebrating our Catholic faith and Jesus present in the most Holy Eucharist. This is a life changing weekend full of amazing speakers and people, and we encourage all teens to attend. Most of the cost is covered by the funds raised from our annual Sock Hop. Sock Hop – Saturday, May 12th – This is our annual fund raiser! All proceeds go towards getting our kids to the SNW summer conference. All teens wanting to attend the conference, must commit to helping out both Friday and Saturday. If they cannot attend the Sock Hop, other work will be provided. Stay tuned for more details!
